The tournament has taken place each autumn since 1986, alternating between the British Isles and Ireland, with a variety of locations on mainland Europe. Scotland has hosted the tournament on 3 separate occasions, and since one theory holds that golf was played first in Holland, it is fitting that finally the NL should be the venue this year for our 32nd Cup. The Continentals hold a slight lead in the series, but the Cup remains in the British camp for the second successive year – until 2013?
The competition takes the form of an individual Stableford, with the Cup going to the team with the highest aggregate score. The Saturday match is generally preceded by a warm up round on the Friday organized in pairs to make or renew acquaintances, and followed by a scramble on the Sunday morning mixing low and high handicaps.
